Michael Rice has built an esteemed career as a dynamic connector, community builder, strategic communications specialist, and PR Specialist - with over 28 years as a Community Engagement Specialist for the City of Philadelphia, empowering local leaders.
Michael Rice launched his journalism career at Black Teen Magazine, where he learned about the production and marketing of the independent press. Rice first linked with renowned pageant founder J. Morris Anderson's Miss Black America organization at age 16, gaining pivotal exposure to large-scale event production. He subsequently leveraged a Journalism degree from Temple University and U.S. Navy experience to ascend to National Media Director, honing communications acumen.
Rice took his global perspective, PR experience, and journalistic approach to the community, serving as a Community Engagement Specialist for City organizing and developing community coalitions in ten regions in the Philadelphia area.
Simultaneously, Rice directed high-impact events and training conferences on behalf of the City of Philadelphia, spanning resource identification, asset mapping, meeting facilitation, and organizing skills enhancement for residents invested in community progress.
Additionally, he planned and implemented major citywide Kwanzaa celebrations and community expos, uniting families with resources.
In 2013, they founded the Philadelphia Youth Leadership Council, developing leadership and networking skills in hundreds of aspiring youth leaders. Through the PYLC, he developed annual leadership/mentoring events connecting his professional peers with the city's middle and high school youth. He also developed a yearly Youth Engagement conference and Teen Entrepreneur Pitch Competition.
Now, as CEO of TheConnector Marketing, Rice's prolific leadership and laser-focused uplifting of marginalized voices continues through publishing guides like "Be Magnificent," directing the online visibility hub TheConnectorLive and advising national coalitions on maximizing local impact.
Rice's book tours and networking events provide insights and information for optimizing your capacity, boosting your self-esteem, and clarifying your goals and purpose. "Be Magnificent! Exceed Your Expectations" is Rice's Master guide for exceeding and excelling at your goals.
